Materials: Lana Grossa "Ricco", 34% alpaca, 33% merino, 21% silk, 12% polyamide, approx 350 (400) g nature (col 1), one pair 5 mm needles and one 5.5 mm crochet hook.
Border pattern: alt K2, P2.
Basic pattern: number of sts multiple of 10 + 2. See diagram. Right side and wrong side rows are given. Work rows 1 – 5 once, then rep rows 2 – 5. 1 square = 1 st and 1 row. 
Gauge: 12.5 sts and 6.5 rows to 10 cm or 4" square (basic pattern with 5.5 mm crochet hook), 1 crochet patt g = 8 cm or 3 1/8" wide.
Front: start first with crochet piece. Cast on 62 (72) ch + 1 ch for turning with 5.5 mm crochet hook and crochet 1 row sc. Cont in basic pattern. When work measures 47 (48) cm or 18 1/2 (18 7/8)" from beginning leave for neck 30 center sts without working and cont for each side separately. At neck edge work off tog on every alt row 2 sts twice. When work measures 52 (53) cm or 20 1/2 (20 7/8)" from beginning end work with a 4th or 2nd row.
Back: work as given for front, without neck shaping. When work measures 52 (53) cm or 20 1/2 (20 7/8)" from beginning end for back with a 4th or 2nd row.
Sleeves: start with crochet piece. Cast on 32 ch + 1 ch for turning with 5.5 mm crochet hook and crochet 1 row sc. Cont in basic pattern. For sleeve shaping inc 1 st at each end alt on every 2nd and 4th row 9 (10) times, either with 1 sc or 1 dc. Work inc sts as far as possible in pattern. When work measures 43 (44) cm or 17 (17 1/4)" from beginning end sleeve. Work 2nd sleeve alike.
Finishing: block pieces to measurements, cover with a damp cloth and leave to dry. Join shoulder seams. Round neck crochet 1 round sc. Along neck pick up with 5.5 mm needles approx 90 sts and work alt K2, P1. After 4 rounds inc 1 st purlwise tbl on every alt P rib. After further 4 rounds inc 1 st purlwise tbl on every alt P rib, staggered to last inc = 120 sts. Cont in border pattern. When work measures 15 cm or 6" from beginning bind off all sts as set. For borders pick up on back and front along lower borders 62 (74) sts each with 5.5 mm needles and cont in border pattern. On 1st row (= right side) work as foll: edge st, K1, P2, * K2, P2, rep from *, K1, edge st. After 8 cm or 3 1/8" bind off. For sleeve borders pick up along lower edges 34 sts each with 5.5 mm needles and cont in border pattern, working sts on 1st row (= right side row) as given above. After 10 cm or 4" bind off. Join side and sleeve seams, sew sleeves in position.
