Materials:

Lana Grossa quality "Fumo", 29% merino extra fine, 20% mohair, 28% acrylic, 23% polyamide, about 450 (500) g green (col 16), one pair 5 1/2 mm needles and one 4 1/2 mm crochet hook.

Basic patt:

 alt P2, K3.

Cable patt:

 see diagram. Only Rs rows are given. On Ws work sts as set. Work rows 1 - 30 once. 1 square = 1 st and 2 rows.
Tension: 17 sts and 22 rows to 10 cm square (basic patt with 5 1/2 mm needles).
Front: cast on 82 (92) sts using 5 1/2 mm needles, work 1st row (= Rs) as foll: edge st, P1, K3, * P2, K3, rep from *, P1, edge st. Wwm 15 (16) cm work 30 rows in cable patt over the 28 centre sts, then cont again over all sts in basic patt. Wwm 35 (36) cm cast off for armholes at each end on every alt row 4 (5) sts once, 2 sts once (twice) and 1 st once. Wwm 51 (53) cm cast off for neck the 20 centre sts. At neck edge cast off on every alt row 8 sts once, 5 sts once and 2 sts once. Wwm 55 (57) cm cast off rem sts.
Back: proceed as given for front.
Sleeves: cast on 88 sts using 5 1/2 mm needles and cont as foll: edge st, P3, K3, * P4, K3, rep from *, P3, edge st. Wwm 20 cm dec for sleeve shaping 1 st on every alt P rib. Wwm 25 cm dec 1 st over each missed P rib. Wwm 30 cm dec 1 st on every alt P rib. Wwm 35 cm dec again over each missed P rib 1 st each = P2, K3. Cont in basic patt. Wwm 39 cm inc for size 14/16 1 st at each end once. Wwm 42 cm cast off for sleeve top at each end on every alt row 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st 8 (9) times, 2 sts twice, 3 sts once and 5 sts once. Wwm 55 (56) cm cast off rem sts. Work 2nd sleeve alike.
To make up: block pieces to measurements and cover with a damp cloth. Join seams. Round neck crochet 1 round dc, gathering neck edge a little. Round neck pick up with 5 1/2 mm needles about 96 sts and work 5 cm * P1, K3, rep from *, in rounds. Then inc 1 st on every alt P rib. Wwm 10 cm inc 1 st over each missed P rib = P2, K3. Cont in basic patt. Wwm 28 cm cast off all sts loosely as set. Attach 1 fringe of 8 strands into each rib of collar, finished length = 8 cm.
