Materials: Lana Grossa "Mood" (60% virgin wool, 22% polyamide, 18% silk; 120 m [131 yds]/ 50 g): 350 (400) g black (col 9). Knitting needles: size 5.5 mm – 6 mm (US 9 – 10/UK 5 – 4). 8 silver buttons and one black button (for inside) (from Union Knopf).
Textured pattern: Rs row: Edge st, * p1, k1, slip 1 p-wise (with yarn behind work), k1, rep from * cont. Ws row: P all sts.
Rib pattern: Rs row: K1, p1 alt. Ws row:Work sts as they appear. 
Gauge: Textured pattern: 16 – 17 sts and 26 – 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4" x 4").
Right front: Cast on 30 (34) sts. Work textured pattern, beg with edge st, k1 and ending with p1, edge st.When work measures 26 (30) cm (10 1/4" [12"]) from beg, work armhole on left edge as foll: in every other row, bind off 3 sts 1x and 1 st 6x (= 21 [25] sts). When armhole measures 21 cm (8 1/4") (= 47 [51] cm / 18 1/2" [20 1/4"] from beg of work), work shoulder shaping on left edge as foll: in every other row, bind off 4 sts 4x and 5 sts 1x (5 sts 5x).
Left front: Work as for right front, reversing shaping (beg with edge st, p1).
Back: Cast on 83 (91) sts and work textured pattern. When work measures 26 (30) cm (10 1/4" [12"]) from beg, work armholes on both sides as for front (= 65 [73] sts). When armholes measure 21 cm (8 1/4"), beg shoulder shaping on both sides as for front. Simultaneously with beg of the 3rd shoulder dec (= 48 [52] cm / 19 1/4" [20 1/2"] from beg of work), bind off center 15 sts for neck and complete each side separately, at neck edge binding off 2 sts 2x in every other row.
Sleeve: Cast on 51 sts and work textured pattern. When sleeve measures 10 cm (4") from beg, inc 1 st on each side of every 10th row 5x (= 61 sts).When sleeve measures 30 cm (12") from beg, work sleeve cap as foll: on each side of every other row, bind off 3 sts 1x, 2 sts 1x, 1 st 15x, 2 sts 1x, then rem 17 sts.
Finishing: Wide front band: Pick up approx. 77 (83) sts from straight edge of right front (see arrow in diagram), except for the last 5 cm (2") before the shoulder point (= approx. 45 [49] cm / 17 3/4" [19 1/4"] front length). Work in rib pattern. For the short neck curve on left (upper) edge, bind off 2 sts in the 2nd row, then bind off 1 st in every other row 2x. When band measures 12 cm (4 3/4") from beg, work 4 buttonholes (each = 1 yo, k2tog). Work 1st buttonhole 4 sts from neck edge and space rem 3 buttonholes each 9 cm (3 1/2") apart. When band measures 14 cm (5 1/2") from beg, bind off all sts.Work band on left front in same manner, reversing shaping and working only one buttonhole as for upper buttonhole on right front band. Sew shoulder, side, and sleeve seams. Set sleeves in armholes. For the collar, pick up approx. 75 sts from front neck edges (up to beg of neck curve on band) and from back neck edge. Work 11 cm (4 1/2") rib pattern then bind off all sts. Sew 4 buttons to each band (see photo). Sew single button to inside of right band, behind upper button.
