Materials: Lana Grossa quality "Mega Fiamma", (65% wool, 35% acrylic, mt = 60 m/50 g) 400 g mottled green/orange (Col 104) and fringe yarn "Venezia" (100% polyester, mt = 90 m/50 g) 50 g green (Col 27), one pair size 7 mm needles, one size 5 mm crochet hook and 5 buttons (from Union Knopf).
Rib pattern: alt K1, P1.
Ajouré pattern: work foll chart.
Materials: 10 sts and 16 rows to 10 cm or 4" square.
Left front: cast on 24 sts with "Mega Fiamma" and P 1 return row. Cont in ajouré pattern: after edge st work patt g twice, end with sts after patt g. When work measures 13 cm or 5 1/8" from beginning inc 1 st at right edge for side shaping, on 14th foll row inc 1 st = 26 sts, work inc in stockinette stitch. When work measures 29 cm or 11 _" from beginning bind off for armhole at right edge on every alt row 2 sts twice and 1 st 4 times. When work measures 34 cm or 13 _" from beginning bind off for neck at left edge 4 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st 4 times. When work measures 50 cm or 19 5/8" from beginning bind off for shoulder on every alt row 5 sts once and 4 sts once.
Right front: work in reverse to left front.
Back: cast on 45 sts with "Mega Fiamma" and P 1 return row. Cont in ajouré pattern, after edge st rep patt g, end with sts after patt g. Work side shaping and armholes at each end as for fronts = 33 sts. When work measures 50 cm or 19 5/8", at the same time with beginning of shoulder shaping, bind off for neck the 15 center sts and finish each side separately.
Sleeves: cast on 30 sts with "Mega Fiamma" and work 18 cm or 7 1/8" in rib pattern, inc 1 st on last row = 31 sts. Cont in ajouré pattern: after edge st work patt g 3 times, end with sts after patt g. For sleeve shaping inc 1 st at each end on every alt row 6 times, work inc sts in pattern = 43 sts. When work measures 44 cm or 17 _" from beginning bind off for sleeve top at each end on every alt row 2 sts once, 1 st 5 times, then 1 st on every 4th row twice, then on every alt row 1 st 5 times and 2 sts once. Bind off rem sts.
Finishing: Join shoulder, side and sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in position. Along lower edge of cardigan, front and neck edges crochet in "Venezia" with the double yarn, working 1 round sc and 1 round crab sts (= sc from left to right). On 1st round work at right straight front edge 5 buttoning loops evenly across (= miss 1 st with 1 ch), first loop approx. 1 cm or 3/8" from neck, foll loops spaced approx. 6 cm or 2 3/8" apart. Sew on buttons.
