Cowl with Loop Fringe

Material:
approx. 3 balls (approx. 99yd/90m each) of Lana Grossa Pernoi (50% Merino wool, 50% polyacryl) in heathered camel (col 10). Size 13 [9mm] circular needle, 24" [60cm] long, size M/13 [9mm] crochet hook.
Rib Pattern:
k2, p2
Loop Fringe:
worked with crochet hook on WS of work. Loops will show on RS of work. Make loop: insert hook into work, carrying yarn over left index finger as usual. Loop yarn around one or more [depending on desired length of loop] fingers of left hand with finger(s) in front of yarn. Wrap yarn over hook as shown by arrow in illustration and draw yarn through work. Wrap yarn over hook again and draw through both loops on hook. Rnd 1: join yarn with sl st, ch1, then work sc to end of rnd. Join all rnds with sl st. Beg all rnds with ch1. Rnd 2: work [1 loop, 1sc] to end of rnd. Rnd 3: work sc. Rnd 4: work [1sc, 1 loop] to end of rnd. Repeat rnds 1-4 throughout.
Gauges:
12 sts and 16 rnds = 4" [10 cm] in rib pat, measured stretched; 9 sts and 10 rnds = 4" [10 cm] in loop fringe.
Cowl:
With circular needle, cast on 64 sts. Join for working in rnds and work in rib pat for 4 1/4" [11 cm]. P next rnd for turning ridge, then cont in rib pat for a further 4 1/4" [11 cm]. Bind off all sts loosely in pat.
Finishing:
fold cowl in half at turning ridge. With crochet hook and WS facing, work loop fringe. On rnd 1, insert hook into cast-on and bind-off edge of cowl. Loop yarn around middle finger, ring finger and pinkie of left hand and make a long enough loop to wrap yarn 3 times around these 3 fingers. Next, wrap yarn over hook as shown by arrow in illustration and cont as instructed. Loops will be approx. 6" [15 cm] long [see photo]. Work a total of 11 rnds for loop fringe, ending with a rnd of sc. Note: due to the difference in gauge, loop fringe will be wider than the actual cowl. Turn cowl to RS.

Cont in St st and work decreases at left edge according to chart B until 3 sts remain. Bind off.
Finishing:
pin piece to measurements and block with damp towels. Fringe: for each fringe, cut 2 strands of yarn in each color, each strand 13 3/4" [35 cm] long. Fold strands in half to form a loop. Fringe measures approx. 6" [15 cm] in length. How to apply fringe see on page 37 and 38 (Ragazza Nr. 3).
