Material: Lana Grossa "Fumato" (42% extra fine merino, 18% baby alpaca, 40% polyamide, LL = approx 225 m/50 g) approx 250 (300 – 350) g mottled light gray (col 9); needles size 5,5 and 6, 1 circular needle each sizes 5,5 and 6, 80 cm long.
Knotted edge st: k1 tbl, slip last st pwise, yfwd. Attention: Work all pieces with knotted edge st!
Ribs: Alt k2, p2
Stockinette st (Stst): Knit on RS r, purl on WSr.
Cable patt: Work acc chart. Nos on the right indicate RS r. In WS rows not indicated work sts as they appear. Row a indicates row before last of border. Beg working horizontally across 21 sts between arrows a and b, work 1x 2 sts between arrows b and c. Always work main patt = 4 sts between arrows c and d, ending with 21 sts between arrows d and e. Vertically work PR 1x from 1. – 30. r, thereby inc 2 sts each in 1. cable as shown = 23 sts between arrows a and b / d and e. Rep 7. – 30. r 9 (10 – 11)x = 216 (240 – 264) r, ending with 31. – 44. r = altog. 260 (284 – 308)r.
Gauges: 16 sts and 23,5 r Stst with needles size 6 = 10 x 10 cm; 23 sts and 23, 5 r cable patt with needles size 6 = 10 x 10 cm.
Front and back: Worked horizontally in one piece. Attention: The arrow in chart refers to direction of knitting! Beg with left front. CO 124 (128 – 132) sts with circular needle size 5,5. For the front border work 5 cm = 11 r rib, thereby beg on 1. WS r after selv st with k2 and ending before selv st with p2. Continue in cable patt with circular needle size 6 as described, incorporating incs into cables = 128 (132 – 136) sts. There are 82 (86 – 90) knit sts between each cable. After 29 (32 – 35,5) cm = 68 (76 – 84) r from end of border beg with L armhole shaping as foll: In next RS r after cable k 47 sts then BO 18 (22 – 22) sts and work both sides separately. Then proceed with L piece = shoulder section, for further armhole shaping, BO on every 2. r 1x 3 sts, 1x 2 sts and 3x 1 st each. Work another 2 rows even over rem 32 (34 – 36) sts. Then continue armhole shaping, on R-edge inc 1x 1 st, then in every 2. r 2x 1, 1x 2, and 1x 3 sts each and 1x CO an additional 18 (20 – 22) sts = 58 (62 – 66) sts. Place these sts on holder and continue working on 70 sts = side length. For armhole shaping on L edge, on foll WS r BO 2 sts, then in every 2. r BO another 1x 2 sts and 2x 1 st each = 64 sts. Then work 6 r even, for depth of armhole. For shaping on L-edge inc 1 st, then in every 2. r 1x 1 st and CO an extra 2x 2 sts = 70 sts. After 10 cm = 24 r from beg of armhole, for back piece work acc PR given again over all 128 (132 – 136) sts in one piece. After 32 (36 – 40) cm = 76 (84 – 92) r from end of armhole shaping work R armhole as for the left. After completion of R armhole work another 29 (32 – 35,5) cm = 68 (76 – 84) r as one piece in PR provided, thereby in the last row dec 2 sts evenly across cable patt = 124 (128 – 132) sts.
Altogether 260 (284 – 308) r have been worked from CO edge of L front border. Now work R front border with needles size 5,5 in same patt divisions as for the left side. After 5 cm = 10r from beg of border, BO sts as they appear.
Sleeves: CO 42 sts with needles size 5,5. Work 5 cm = 11 r rib for border, starting with 1 WS r and selv st, p1, ending with p1, selv st. Then cont in Stst with needles size 6. In 5. r from end of border, for sleeve slants on both sides inc 1 st then inc in every 8. r 10 (4–0)x 1 st each and in every 6. R inc another 0 (8-14)x 1 st each = 64 (68 – 72) M. After 40 cm = 94 r from end of border, for sleeve caps at both ends, BO 3 sts, then in every 2. r BO another 1x 2, 14x 1 , 1x 2 und 1x 3 sts each. In foll r BO rem 16 (20 – 24) sts.
Finishing: Block pieces, dampen and allow to dry. Join sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves.
