Material:
approx. 12 (13, 14) balls (approx. 77yd/70m each) of Lana Grossa "Alta Moda Estate" (80% cotton, 10% silk, 10% polyamide,) in reed (col 4); size 10 1/2 [6.5mm] needles, size 10 1/2 [6.5mm] circular needle, 47” [120cm] long, one 1” [28mm] button in pea green [by Union Knopf, item 49826, col 16].
Garter st:
k every row.
St st:
k on RS; p on WS.
Full-fashioned decrease:
work to 1 st before marked corner st, k3tog – 2 sts decreased.
Gauges:
15.5 sts and 22 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st; 15.5 sts and 30 rows = 4” [10 cm] in garter st.
Note:
arrows in schematic indicate direction of work. Dashed line on left front schematic indicates where corner decreases are worked.
Back:
cast on 70 (76, 82) sts. Work in garter st for 1 1/2“ [4 cm]. Next, work in St st for 15 3/4 (16 1/4, 16 1/2)” [40 (41, 42) cm. Place armhole markers at right and left edge. Cont in St st until back measures 6 (6 1/4, 6 3/4)” [15, 16, 17) cm] from markers. Bind off all sts.
Left and Right Front [worked in one piece]:
with circular needle, cast on 290 (304, 318) sts for front and bottom edge. Place markers at 37th (40th, 43rd) st in from each end of needle to denote corner sts. Work in garter st for 2 rows. Next (dec) row: work full-fashioned decs as instructed at each marked corner st. Repeat dec row every other row 35 (38, 41) times more. At same time, work buttonhole at right front on row 7 as foll: k2tog, yo 15 3/4 (16 1/2, 17 1/4)” [40 (42, 44) cm] up from corner st. When work measures 4 1/4“ [11 cm] from beg, bind off center 28 sts for collar. Next, work left and right front separately until all corner decs have been worked. Bind off remaining 59 (60, 61) sts for side seam.
Sleeves:
cast on 58 sts. Work in garter st for 1 1/2“ [4 cm]. Next, work in St st for 6 (8, 10) rows.
Shape sleeve:
dec 1 st each end of needle on next row, then every foll 8th (10th, 12th) row 3 (3, 2) times, then every foll 6th (8th, 10th) row 4 (2, 2) times – 42 (46, 48) sts. When sleeve measures 9 3/4“ [25 cm] in St st, place marker at right edge. Work 14 rows even. Inc 1 st each end of needle on next row, then every foll 16th row twice more – 48 (52, 54) sts. When sleeve measures 11“ [28 cm] from marker, bind off all sts.
Finishing:
pin pieces to measurements and block with damp towels. Sew side seams 17 1/4 (17 3/4, 18)” [44 (45, 46) cm] up from lower edge, sew shoulder seams 5 (6, 6 3/4)” [13 (15, 17) cm] in from each shoulder edge. Sew collar along back neck edge. Sew in sleeves. Sew button.
