Materials: Lana Grossa "Cosa", 50% silk, 50% microfiber (polyamide), approx. 400 (450) g olive (col 3) and "Cambio", 70% cotton, 30% polyamide, approx. 350 (400) g gray (col 10); knitting needles, size 6 mm (US 10/UK 4).
Both yarns are always used together!
Dropped stitch pattern: Number of sts divisible by 6 + 1 + edge st. Row 1: edge st, p 2, * k 1 tbl, k 1, k 1 tbl, p 3, rep from * cont, then k 1 tbl, k 1, k 1 tbl, p 2, edge st. Row 2: edge st, k 2, * p 1 tbl, p 1, p 1 tbl, k 3, rep from * cont, then p 1tbl, p 1, p 1 tbl, k 2, edge st. Row 3: edge st, p 2, * 1 slip dec with dropped st (= slip 1, drop foll st and let it come undone down to cast-on edge, k foll st, psso), p 3, rep from * cont, then 1 slip dec with dropped st, p 2, edge st. Row 4: edge st, k 2, * p 1, k 3, rep from * cont, then p 1, k 2, edge st. Row 5: edge st, p 2, * k 1, p 3, rep from * cont, then k 1, p 2, edge st.
Basic pattern: Reverse stocking stitch (rev Stst) = p Rs rows, k Ws rows.
Full-fashioned decs: When 1 st is dec: Right edge: edge st, k 1, k 2 tog. Left edge: 1 slip dec (= slip 1 k-wise, k foll st, psso), k 1, edge st. When 2 sts are dec: Right edge: edge st, k 1, k 3 tog. Left edge: 1 double slip dec (= slip 1 k-wise, k foll 2 tog, psso), k 1, edge st.
Gauge: 16 sts and 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches) in basic pattern with doubled yarn and 6 mm needles.
Front: With 6 mm needles, cast on 111 (123) sts and work dropped stitch pattern, rep rows 1 and 2, 6 times, then working row 3 once (= 75 (83) sts). In the foll Ws row, k all sts. Now cont in basic pattern. For hip shaping, dec 1 st on each side of every 4th row, 5x. When work measures 17.5 (18.5) cm (7 [7 1/4] inches) from beg, inc 1 st on each side of every 10th row, 3x, for side shaping. When work measures 36.5 (38.5) cm (14 1/2 [15 1/4] inches) from beg, bind off 1 st on each side for armholes, and work armhole shaping as foll: dec 1 st on each side of every other row 5x, always working full-fashioned decs. When work measures 42 (44) cm (16 1/2 [17 1/4] inches) from beg, bind off center st for neck and complete each side separately, shaping neck as foll: at neck edge, dec 1 st in 4th foll row once, then, in every other row, dec 2 sts 4x and dec 1 st 9x, always working full-fashioned dec. When work measures 55.5 (57.5) cm (22 [22 3/4] inches) from beg, bind off 4 (5) sts at shoulder edge 1x, then work shoulder shaping as foll: at shoulder edge, in every other row, bind off 4 sts 1x and 3 sts 1x (5 sts 2x).
Back: Work as for back, but bind off center 33 sts for neck when work measures 56 (58) cm (22 1/4 [23] inches) from beg. In the 2nd foll row, bind off 2 sts at neck edge, once more.
Sleeve: With 6 mm needles, cast on 75 sts and work dropped stitch pattern, rep rows 1 and 2, 11 times, then working row 3 once (= 51 sts). Now rep rows 4 and 5 cont. To shape sleeve, inc 1 st on each side of every 8th row, 3x and inc 1 st on each side of every 6th row, 3x. When sleeve measures 36 cm (14 1/4 inches) from beg, bind off 3 sts on each side 1x, then bind off 2 sts on each side of every other row 3x. When sleeve measures 40 cm (16 inches) from beg, bind off rem sts. Make 2nd sleeve identically.
Finishing: Block all pieces foll diagram and dampen lightly. Sew seams.
