Material:
Lana Grossa "Fauna" (70% Ecological Wool, 30% Baby Alpaca, each ball = approx 60 m/50 g): approx 600 (650 – 700) g Lavendel meliert (lavender mix) (Color #15); One pair each sizes 7 and 9 mm (US 10 1/2 and 13) or size to obtain gauge, 1 circular needle size 7 mm (US 10 1/2), 60 cm/24” long; 4 Mother-of-Pearl buttons from Union Knopf, Art. 46286, 28 mm Ø, Color #46 rosenquarz (rose quartz).
Ribbing:
Ribbing: K1, P1 Rib.
St st:
K the RS rows, P the WS rows
Rev St st:
P the RS rows, K the WS rows
Cable Pattern:
Work following the Chart on this page. The numbers on RH side represent RS rows. Work the rep between arrows a and b. On the 1st row, inc 2 sts in every cable panel as shown. Work rows 1 – 18 once, then rep rows 11 – 18 for pat.
Gauges:
11 sts and 17 rows in St st with size 9 mm (US 13) needles = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”; 15 sts and 17 rows in Cable Pattern with size 9 mm (US 13) needles = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”. Take time to check gauges.
Back:
With size 7 mm (US 10 1/2) needles, cast on 57 (61 – 65) sts. For the border work 4 cm/1 1/2” = 8 rows in Ribbing as foll: 1 selvage st, K1, *P2, K2; rep from *, end K1, 1 selvage st. Change to size 9 mm (US 13) needles and work in St st, inc 1 st on 1st row = 58 (62 – 66) sts. Dec 1 st each side on the 11th row above border, then rep dec every 12th row 3 times more = 50 (54 – 58) sts. After 29 cm/11 1/2” = 50 rows above border, place a marker each side of row. Inc 1 st each side on the 11th row above markers, then rep inc every 10th row once more = 54 (58 – 62) sts. After 18 cm/7” = 32 rows above markers, work armhole shaping as foll: bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows and 1 st at beg of next 2 rows = 42 (46 – 50) sts. Then work even until armhole measures 22 (23 – 24) cm/8 1/2 (9– 9 1/2)” = 38 (40 – 42) rows. Bind off all sts. Place markers each side of center 22 sts for back neck.
Left Front:
With size 7 mm (US 10 1/2) needles, cast on 30 (32 – 34) sts. For the border work 4 cm/1 1/2” = 8 rows Ribbing. Change to size 9 mm (US 13) needles and work in pats as foll: 1 selvage st, 8 (10 – 12) sts rev St st, 21 sts Cable Pattern working across entire chart and on 1st row work 6 incs as shown = 36 (38 – 40) sts. Work side decs, incs and armhole decs at RH side same as Back = 28 (30 – 32) sts. Work even until armhole measures 11 (12 – 13) cm/4 1/2 (4 3/4 – 5)” = 20 (22 – 24) rows. For neck shaping, bind off from LH side 5 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st 2 times. When neck measures 11 cm/4 1/2” = 18 rows, bind off rem 16 (18 – 20) sts for shoulder, working K2tog 2 times across the cable sts to pull in edge.
Right Front:
Work to correspond to Left Front, reversing all shaping and placements of pats and crossing the cables in the same direction.
Sleeves:
With size 7 mm (US 10 1/2) needles, cast on 42 (44 – 48) sts. For the border work 4 cm/1 1/2” = 8 rows in Ribbing. Change to size 9 mm (US 13) needles and work in pats as foll: 1 selvage st, 6 (7 – 9) sts rev St st, 28 sts Cable Pattern as foll: work the sts before arrow a, work rep 2 times, work the sts after arrow b without selvage st, working inc sts as shown = 36 sts, 6 (7 – 9) sts rev St st, 1 selvage st = 50 (52 – 56) sts in total. Then work even for 2 (3 – 4) cm/3/4 (1 1/4 – 1 1/2)” = 4 (6 – 8) rows above border. For cap shaping, bind off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, then dec 1 st each side every 2nd row 9 times and bind off 2 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Bind off rem 12 (14 – 18) sts.
Finishing:
Block pieces to measurements. With size 7 mm (US 10 1/2) circular needle, pick up and K 91 (93 – 95) sts along straight edge of Left Front. For the Border work in Ribbing in rows as foll: Row 1 (WS): 1 selvage st, P1, *K1, P1; rep from *, end P1, 1 selvage st. When border measures 4 cm/1 1/2”, bind off sts in rib. Work Border along Right Front in same way, but work 4 buttonholes on the 4th row as foll: work 23 (25 – 27) sts, bind off 3 sts, work 16 sts, bind off 3 sts, work 17 sts, bind off 3 sts, work 17 sts, bind off 3 sts and work 6 sts. On the foll row, cast on 3 sts over bound-off sts. Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. With size 7 mm (10 1/2) circular needle pick up and K 73 sts around neck edge, including sides of front borders. Work in Ribbing for 20 cm/8”. Bind off sts loosely in rib. Fold collar in half to WS and sew in place. Sew buttons to Left Front, opposite buttonholes.
